⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This book is Alllllllllll Right!
Such a refreshing, and deeply moving Ode to Freedom. I read the whole thing in one shot, couldn’t put it down.
By reading about your journey I now have a better understanding of the message in the Music, Poetry, Arts. Thank you for being, I highly recommend this book.

Six months ago I saw a beautiful poet on the news circuit, Def poetry Slam, Ted Talks and many others and I said she could be the best living Black female in our midst. I might have rushed to judgement. That was before I read, Lyrics For Langston. You have found a voice and it leaps right off the pages…Your poetry is ageless, jazzy, sometimes Bluesy but always sincere.

You do not write for presses and cameras. You write with amazing conviction. Your language is bright and retains light, taking your readers on a Black magic carpet to Harlem, the South and far beyond. I couldn’t expect a better tribute to Langston Hughes. The poem I will really remember for a long time is, Lyrics For Langston, such a fluid ending to a solid writing. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A great new poetic voice
I’ve been following Venus Jones’s work for some ten years, her live work, her recorded work, and her written work. I enjoyed “Lyrics For Langston” from the very first poem that I read.

Venus is a fresh new voice, and has a fresh new viewpoint that deserves to be heard and read. Get this book, read it, and understand where poetry is in the 21st century. She speaks to what this country is and has become for both the young and not-so-young.

Venus Jones a young gifted author of the spoken word, gives an inspirational tribute to Langston Hughes. This tribute is written in the style and mood of Langston, you can feel the Jazz, Blues and Emotions of the Original “Jazz Man” as Langston was called. Very moving, a must read
